pirate + lost treasure
You know you work at a cool place when they supply a long pose painting session during your lunch break! Here's a watercolor sketch from today's pose. In other news, I lost a sketchbook during a trip to L.A. last weekend. The airport parking guy asked if I was missing my wallet, meaning it was on the ground next to me. After feeling for my wallet, saying no, we drove on to the airport. Got to our gate, I reached for my book to kill time, no book. I can't believe that I did that. Thankfully, there was only about 6 spreads worth of sketches. Oh, by the way, go see How to Train Your Dragon this weekend! Our best movie to date, in my opinion. Amazing work all around on this one!

Damn, I want to work where you do. The only things around here that sit still enough to draw at noontime are the sleeping guards at the entrances and the sleeping microbiologists when it's sunny outside...
Thanks Janice. You should do a pastel series of sleeping workers. That would be cool. I don't know if ever heard of the way John Singer Sargent worked, but he wouldn't spend time scoping out locations to sketch or paint. He would pick any spot and go to. It didn't matter where he was, he found something that held enough interest to paint or sketch. Incredible. I always try to have that train of thought in mind.
Good advice Jackson! It seems to be working on your part - your sketch books are so varied and interesting.
